Exercise is any form of physical activity that gets you moving, such as walking, dancing, and swimming, running or working. Being physically fit helps you feel better and have the strength, flexibility, and endurance needed for your every day activities.

If you exercise to manage your weight, investing 30 minutes a day in aerobic exercise such as walking, bicycling or swimming can help you. Regardless of your age, weight or athletic ability aerobic exercise combined with a healthy diet can keep excess pounds at bay. Aerobic exercise can help you lose weight — and keep it off.

Exercising to reduce your weight it helps to also reduce the risk of many health conditions, including obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke and certain types of cancer. Weight-bearing aerobic exercises, such as walking, reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Additionally exercise can reduce tension associated with anxiety and promote relaxation.

Check with your doctor before you begin to exercise especially if you are overweight. Once you have your doctor’s approval, start slowly. You might start with a ten minutes in the morning and ten minutes in the evening. The next few days, add a few minutes to each walking session. Pick up the pace a little. Very soon, you could be walking 30 minutes a day and enjoying the benefits of regular aerobic exercise.

A good way to change old exercise habits or lack of it and support a healthy weight loss is to keep a food and exercise diary. Keeping a diary is particularly helpful as part of your weight-loss program. A diary will let you see what you’ve accomplished and help set your goals for the future. Daily notes of your improvement will motivate you to continue. Remember to review your weight-loss goals from time to time and make sure they are realistic. Healthy weight loss happens slowly.

Loosing track of your weight-loss program and slip back into old unhealthy eating and exercise patterns it’s not unusual. Having a plan when it does happen it helps you to recommit to your goals.
